It is with great honor and privilege that the International Institute for Human Security welcomes Fatoumata C.M. Jallow-Tambajang, Humanitarian and former Vice President of Republic of The Gambia as Senior Advisor.
Her Excellency is a peace advocate and expert on political affairs, youth engagement, women’s empowerment and good governance. Her political career in The Gambia dates back to the early 90’s when she chaired the National Women’s Council and served as advisor on women and children’s affairs. She also served as Secretary of State for Health and Social Welfare further advocating change for social justice and human rights. During this time she worked with a number of women’s’ organizations including the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
After the general elections of 2016, and the end of authoritative rule, under the leadership of President Adama Barrow, she served as minister of women’s affairs and vice president. Her incredible career is all the more impressive as she is the mother of 8 children. Her expertise, support and contribution to IIHS will be invaluable to our partners and those individuals, groups and entities benefiting from our Knowledge Concourse Program.
