What is the IIHS Core Program?
An applied, four-day workshop and retreat set in the Swiss palace of Caux, in which a select cohort of changemakers from around the world learn to develop and refine peacebuilding programs that are:
Relevant to their communities’ needs,
immediately Applicable with the resources at their disposal, and both
Sustainable and Self-Sustaining.
The 2023 Fellows Cohort will:
- Gain exposure to the various challenges and modes of operations of different peacebuilders in different fields;
- Expand design thinking and strategic planning training for human security at the local level;
- Insight into different and creative uses of resources, and practice into developing relevant, applicable, self-sustaining, and measurably impactful programs;
- Opportunities for networking and collaboration.
Who is the Core Program for?
- High-level and seasoned practitioners seeking to promote knowledge sharing and transfer by revisiting the ever-changing challenges of peacebuilding on the ground
- Academics, civil society, NGO and government actors at all levels seeking to design relevant, applicable, self-sustaining, and measurably impactful programs
Principle Facilitator:
Dr. Yara Zgheib
Dr. Zgheib is a policy researcher and analyst as well as a writer. She consults with governments and the nonprofit sector on peace and security strategies, with an emphasis on conflict resolution, counter-terrorism, and countering violent extremism. Yara previously led HumansecurityX, a certificate program parallel to the International Forum on Just Governance, and currently leads the IIHS Core Program for Leaders and Changemakers.Yara is fluent in English, Arabic, French, and Spanish.
