The International Institute for Human Security is privileged and delighted to announce Dr. Gervais Rufyikiri, the former Vice President of Burundi, as Senior Advisor.
Dr. Rufyikiri is a fellow at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), and an independent consultant on the challenges of peacebuilding, governance, democracy, and economic and social development. His areas of expertise include agricultural and environmental matters, as well as illicit arms dealing. His focus remains on the areas which undermine the ability of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and post-conflict countries to meet the Sustainable Development Goals. He has occupied high political positions, including Vice-President of Burundi, coordinating economic and social ministries from 2010 through 2015, and President of Senate of Burundi, from 2005 to 2010, where he contributed to building post-conflict institutions and initiating and implementing reforms aimed at promoting political stability and economic growth. He is also a lecturer and researcher, and has written numerous scientific articles.
